On Saturday Purves Street in Long Island City will be given over to the second annual LIC Block Party at local mainstay SculptureCenter, which from noon to 5pm will ply visitors with artist-lead activities — like DIY doughnut production with Julia Sherman and balloon sculpture with Ross Moreno — as well as yummy offerings from local eateries including the Burger Garage and Manducatis Rustica, and a rock transformation booth manned by folks from the Noguchi Museum.

Also on tap is something called a “PON-A-THON” that will be conducted by artists Abby Walton and Travis Boyer, a thaumatrope-making workshop courtesy of the Museum of the Moving Image, and Stephanie Dodes painting third eyes on people’s faces. Jacques Louis Vidal will run a consultation center throughout the day at which he will help couples, parents and children, and owner and pets become closer through the connective power of bubbles.

Inside, the Artists Market will feature art, prints, posters, zines, clothes, jewelry, and more for sale, with all proceeds going to the participants. The artists and groups who will be on hand to sell their works include: Adam Kurtz, Brian Faucette, Fuse Works, Hanna Sandin, Julie Thevenot, Kim Hennessy, Paper Monument, Paul Branca, Personal Desire Propaganda (Blake Carrington, Grayson Cox, and Asa Gauen), Raul De Nieves, and Yoko Inoue.

A performance program — emceed by SculptureCenter associate director Frederick Janka — will include appearances by Bollywood dancers from the LIC YMCA, Urban Technology, and HARIBO, among others.
